Junior Legal Counsel Data Privacy (M/F/D)
in the Legal & Compliance Department at the Kia Europe Headquarters in Frankfurt/Main, Germany.
Job mission:
To provide legal advice, but also develop, draft, and implement basic legal templates, contracts, presentations, training, and other materials, as well as processes and procedures in the area of data privacy in close collaboration and guidance with the Legal Counsel for IT Law & Data Privacy; To conduct research on general legal matters under the supervision and guidance of a Senior Legal Counsel and support them in administrative matters of the Legal department.
Your responsibilities:
Practice data privacy and IT law in close collaboration with Legal Counsel IT Law & Data Privacy (70%).
Conduct research and provide legal advice to business teams on data privacy and GDPR questions.
Develop and prepare data privacy presentations, records, and training materials.
Research new legislation affecting data-driven business models. Review data privacy-related contracts, draft contract templates, and standard forms for the business.
Support HQ's new IT projects and the implementation of HQ's IT/Security audit results.
Review Kia Europe (Kia EU) ROPA, and manage maintenance and updates for Kia EU ROPA.
Implement and maintain Kia EU's data privacy management system.
Manage updates for Kia EU's internal and external privacy notices.
Manage updates for Kia EU's master DPAs (Data Processing Agreements)
Research legal matters and perform legal administrative tasks (30%)
Handle general contractual questions and litigation as needed.
Manage legal database and record retention. Provide support for Kia EU Policies management.
Manage Kia EU Power of Attorneys (PoAs).
Administer the legal department's internal affairs.
Your talents:
Legal degree (diploma, bachelor, masters) and full qualification as a lawyer in any jurisdiction (qualification in German legal system NOT required)
Preferably prior experience within legal department of a multinational company or an international law firm (experience on IT law, data protection, GDPR would be plus)
Preferably prior experience within a law firm, a legal or compliance department of a multinational company
Good understanding of major concepts of IT law, GDPR compliance and commercial law, and ability to research independently on legal matters as guided by the superior
Strong analytical skills, in particular regarding effectiveness and deficiencies of internal controls and compliance measures
Ability to adapt in a multi-cultural work environment
Ability to work within tight time schedules
Effective communicator and pro-active, independent working approach
Business mentality and problem-solving attitude
Business Fluent in English and in one other European language is a plus
