Assistant Manager ESG Regulatory Affairs (all genders welcome)



at the Kia Europe Headquarters in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. This is a temporary position with a duration of one year.


Job mission:
As an Assistant Manager ESG Regulatory Affairs, you will support the team in monitoring and interpreting EU ESG legislation, assessing its impact on KEU and the wider Kia organisation, and contributing to timely compliance planning. You will help prepare regulatory analyses and briefings, support the development of internal compliance processes, and coordinate cross‑functional input to ensure consistent alignment and readiness across all relevant departments.


Your responsibilities:

  • Analyse emerging and existing ESG regulations to evaluate their impact on Kia Europe and its subsidiaries, translating complex legal requirements into clear, actionable guidance for the business

  • Monitor and interpret core automotive ESG legislation at both EU and national level, providing concise, business‑friendly explanations to European teams and coordinating closely with HQ/Brussels Office/R&D to ensure aligned understanding and implementation.

  • Develop and maintain a robust European governance framework that enables the organisation to effectively implement new legislative requirements, ensure ongoing compliance, and embed ESG considerations into decision‑making processes.

  • Stay continuously informed on evolving EU ESG legislation/frameworks, including but not limited to EUBR, CRMA, PPWR, FLR, IAA and proactively advising the business on upcoming obligations and risks.

  • Support the creation and refinement of internal sustainability policies, ensuring they reflect regulatory expectations, industry best practices, and Kia’s long‑term ESG commitments.

  • Support both internal and external audit processes, helping assess ESG performance, identify compliance gaps, and follow up on required improvements.

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders by responding to ESG‑related inquiries, supporting participation in industry associations or working groups, and representing Kia Europe in relevant sustainability forums where appropriate.


Your talents:

  • University degree in Law, Business, Sustainability, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 1-3 years in ESG related topics, such as sustainability or corporate social responsibility.

  • Proven experience in tracking and mapping legislative landscape, policies, and practices within an organization.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

  • Strong understanding of ESG concepts, frameworks, and regulations, particularly within the European Union.

  • Familiarity with ESG regulations such as the CSRD and CSDD and their implications for reporting and disclosure requirements.

  • Excellent legal research and analytical skills to interpret and apply ESG regulations.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken). Additional European languages are a plus

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with company senior representatives

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.

  • Initiative, self-confidence, and resilience.

  • Familiarity with working with Asian cultures / companies is a plus.
